How It Works
The two-sample t-test compares the means of two independent groups to determine whether there is statistical evidence that the associated population means are significantly different. It accounts for sample size and variability in both groups.
Use this test when analyzing continuous metrics like session duration, page views, or revenue, rather than binary conversion rates (use chi-squared for those).
When to Use T-Tests
- •Revenue per visitor: Average order value or transaction amount
- •Time-based metrics: Session duration, time to purchase
- •Engagement metrics: Pages per session, scroll depth
- •Any continuous metric: Not conversion rates (use chi-squared instead)
